In the month of May was National Family Portrait Month. We were apart of a great initiative where we were raising funds for the Breast Cancer Foundation, families could participate in this by donating a small fee which would go to the breast cancer foundation and in return receive a family portrait shoot.

There was a lot of interest in this and over the coming months there will be more blog posts of families that have/are participating. This blog is about the El-Shamaa family who i had the pleasure of photographing and also participated in this great initiative. Our location for the shoot was in Urangan near the iconic Urangan Pier. Mariam and Emile are originally from USA so wanted to capture a little bit of the beauty of Hervey Bay. Mariam and Emile have two children, so the Urangan beach made for the perfect location for our shoot and for the kids to let off some energy. I had a great time meeting with and photographing this great family, here are a few images from their family photoshoot.

It was great meeting Justine, Chelsea and Nicole and photographing their styled shoot that is now being showcased in the QUEENSLAND BRIDES MAGAZINE.

Recently I met up with Jai and Tess to view and design their wedding album.

I had a lot of fun photographing this wedding as it was not your traditional wedding. With Jai and Tess expecting their first baby, they chose to have a small and intimate wedding with close family attending. They were married on Craignish beach, which is where Jai proposed, the gorgeous ceremony decor was put together by family. It was a beautiful laid back wedding, with lots of love and emotion shared between family.

Recently i had the privilege of photographing the wedding of Wayne and Wendy. Everyone loves spending time with their loved ones on Valentines day and it was on this day that Wayne & Wendy decided to tie the knot, what better time than to have a wedding on this date!! Their location of choice was the beautiful Fraser Island and what a beautiful and intimate wedding it was. They chose the stunning Atrium over at Kingfisher Bay Resort for their ceremony and we got to make the most of the beautiful scenery for their intimate / family photos.

Wendy and Wayne have two children Olivia and Hayden who were very involved in the wedding. Olivia plays the flute and performed a piece during the ceremony, Hayden was also one of the groomsmen and helped keep Dad calm and relaxed through the day :p

It was an honour and privilege to photograph this couple. I am really glad to have met them and it is great that i can now call them friends. I loved documenting their wedding story, so here is just a little snippet from their wedding day.

Geoff and Deb are a great couple and recently i had the pleasure of photographing them, celebrating their engagement.

Deb and Geoff had travelled up from Sydney to visit Family so it was the perfect opportunity to slip in an engagement session. These guys were super easy to work with and it was just a fun relaxed afternoon. Wishing you guys all the best with everything that is to come, your wedding is going to be awesome.

The Botanical gardens in Hervey Bay was the choice for Steve & Lucy’s wedding ceremony.The Botanical gardens was a great spot to get married, it makes for beautiful light in the afternoon and all the details of this wedding were amazing. But the best thing that made this wedding special was the connection between these two and the love they share. It was such an honest and emotional wedding that had most of the guests and bridal party in tears.

It was an absolute pleasure meeting you guys and photographing your wedding.

I have found myself travelling out to Maryborough quite a bit lately for portrait sessions, and i must admit that i do love the locations that it has to offer. This time i met up with a newly engaged couple, Shawn & Katelyn for their personalised engagement session. They took me to an open park in Maryborough which was the perfect setting for their engagement portraits. They also brought along their two dogs Peach & Bowzer who loved running around in the park and getting in on the action.

It was great meeting with you both and getting to know you as a couple (and Peach & Bowzer of course) and I loved being able to capture these moments for you both.

Damien & Bec were married at the beautiful Susan River Homestead which fit in perfectly with their country style theme. Bec’s family were very involved in the preparation of the wedding, with her sister Marlene doing her hair and make up and her other sister Jessica putting together the bouquets.

These guys were great to photograph and what great locations Susan River offered for their intimate bride and groom shots. We were fortunate that the horses seemed to be attracted to bec’s bouquet (thanks Jess) and were happy to get in on the action.

Dan & Amelia agreed to be my bride and groom for my recent wedding promo video. There is so much love between these two and it was a privilege in being able to capture this emotion in both film and photos. I think there is always a time for posed images, but I just loved photographing the natural moments between these two. These images really do reflect who they are as a couple! We had a great day and it was great working with my father, Robert Commandeur who did the cinematography.
