2017 has arrived and we are straight back into work with our first photoshoot of the year, which was Nick & Breanna’s engagement session. I would like to say that these guys travelled all the way from Cairns just for the shoot but that would be stretching the truth a little ha. Nick and Bree both have family here and will also be getting married in Hervey Bay at the end of this year!

I officially met Nick and Bree in the flesh 2 days ago, we communed with a beer and then headed out for their engagement shoot. I have really enjoyed getting to know Nick and Bree, they are both just such a great down to earth couple that genuinely love each other. They are both laid back, and although Nick has a slightly dark sense of humour, Bree levels him out pretty good ha

With Christmas only 3 weeks away we have finished our last wedding for the year, and what an awesome wrap up to the year it was!

Daniel and Sarah live in NSW with their 2 children and decided to tie the knot over at beautiful Fraser Island. I have absolutely loved getting to know this couple, our talks with the lead up to the wedding have been awesome.

So much planning goes into a wedding and i loved all the little details that Sarah & Daniel put into theirs. Sarah’s veil was her sisters from when she got married and the pillow that the rings sat on was Sarah’s christening pillow. The bridal party were a totally awesome bunch, as were Daniel & Sarah’s 2 children who were also part of the bridal party.

All in all, Great wedding & great people. Love my job and so grateful that i get to connect with such awesome couples!

Here is a little snippet from their Day.

Johno and Megan were married at the botanical gardens with close family and friends being there to witness their special day. They both got ready at the Akama resort, just around the corner from their ceremony location. The ceremony was held at the Botanical Gardens where the sun was out and the mozzies were away – which was AWESOME (especially when you are allergic to them hey Megan!!!)

After the ceremony we headed out with the bridal party to the Torquay Jetty for some fun bridal party shots. Johno and Megan’s reception was held at the Boat Club, so before we headed there we took the opportunity to head to the Urangan Marina to get some beautiful intimate photos amongst the boats.

If i was to describe Jim & Joans wedding in 1 word i would have to say  “Epic”.

I love weddings that are traditional, but i also love it when couples decide to go against the grain of a traditional wedding, which is exactly what Jim & Joan did. Friends and family made their way down to the overcast Moore Park Beach where they waited for the ceremony to begin. It was all casual dress, Bagpipes were playing and guests looked on as they awaited for the Bride to make her grand entrance…. and a grand entrance it was! Joan arrived to the ceremony riding her friends horse- Chief, who handled the beach beautifully!. The combination of strong wind & a slightly overcast sky just added to the epicness and made her entrance look like something from a movie.

All of the details that went into Jim and Joan’s wedding had so much meaning to them, the cuff links that Jim wore were his Fathers, the dress that Joan wore was completely hand made by her mother as well as the bridesmaids dresses AND the wedding cake was also made by Joan’s Mum.

Ben & Sophie got married at the beautiful Fraser Island. I had a lot of fun photographing this wedding and all the little details that went into their special day. The boys were pretty chilled out getting ready (maybe not Ben ha), choosing to have drinks and celebration cigars before the ceremony. One of my favourite moments to capture during weddings is when Dad sees his daughter for the first time in her wedding dress, i love the real, raw emotion of that moment and i am so happy we could document that as Sophie’s Dad saw her for the first time in that dress.

Ben & Sophie also decided that they wanted to exchange gifts before the ceremony. It was awesome photographing this moment, as they didn’t actually see each other before the ceremony, all of it was done with a wall dividing them, although I got the cool job of capturing both reactions at the same time.

Ben & Sophie it was awesome photographing your wedding and I am so happy you both have a beautiful wedding album that will take you back to this special day every time you look at it.

4 weeks have passed since Brad & Serena’s wedding, so you can only imagine that bottled up excitement that they both had when they came in to view their beautiful wedding day. I absolutely love this part of the process, the Bride isn’t there when the boys are getting ready on the day of their wedding and vice versa, so when they are viewing their wedding day they are seeing a whole different side to their day.

I have been looking forward to photographing this wedding since i met with Serena and her Mum over a year ago, Serena’s mum helped out a lot throughout the organising process of this wedding and the hard work definitely paid off. Brad & Serena held their Ceremony at Bamboo Land just outside of Torbanlea and this place is just AMAZING! (if you haven’t checked this place out, i highly recommend!) The boys got ready at Ocean’s Resort in Hervey Bay and the girls got ready at Serena’s parents house, which was the perfect setting for this elegant wedding.

Brad & Serena it has been so awesome getting to know you both, i look forward to photographing the next chapter in your life

I love cold weather and unfortunately up here in Hervey Bay we don’t get enough of it, so it was awesome when i got the phone call from Matt & Elsie asking me if i could photograph their wedding in beautiful, cold MontvilleI have known Matt for what seems like a lifetime, so being able to photograph this special day and also watch a friend tie the knot with the woman of his dreams was pretty spesh!

Matt & Elsie held their ceremony and reception at LAKE TERRACE overlooking the beautiful Montville scenery. It was a nice intimate wedding with close family, Elsie also had her sister drop in for a surprise visit all the way from London to witness this special event. Such a great day among close family… Matt & Elsie, thank you for asking me to photograph your wedding, i know it was raining but i think it just made it that bit more cosy and intimate!

You guys are awesome, and i look forward to seeing where your future takes you.

Last weekend i had Mark & Brooke come in to view their beautiful wedding day, after travelling Europe for their honeymoon i am sure it was a good end to their trip, being able to come in and relive their special day.

I knew Mark back in high school, so it was great being able to re-connect and get to know his bride Brooke and her two boys. Mark & Brooke were married at the beautiful Fraser Island where close friends and family joined them to celebrate. I really enjoyed hanging out with these guys for the day, they are both an awesome, laid back couple and i wish them both the very best for their future.

This past weekend we had our wedding couple Ricky & Georga come in to view their beautiful wedding story. I love when couples get to see their photos for the first time after the wedding. It is so easy to get caught up in all the events of the day, forgetting all those special moments that happen around you. That’s why wedding albums are so important as they encapsulate those memories, immediately taking you back to that moment in time when viewing.

Georga really wanted that fairytale wedding and looked stunning in her fairytale dress. Ricky is also a country boy at heart, i loved how they incorporated this into their wedding day with the cowboy hats and horses (which we were also lucky enough to take down to the beach)

Ricky & Georga you both have such a beautiful connection, it was really great getting to know you both and photographing  your special day. You have a beautiful wedding album going into production and I am really excited for you both to see it in print!

Almost 1 year ago i had the privilege of meeting and photographing a beautiful family from the USA, the El-Shamaa family. Emile and Mariam have two beautiful girls and at that time wanted to document family life while living in Hervey Bay.

Fast forward 1 year and Emile & Mariam have a new addition to their family, little Daniel. It was such an honour being able to photograph this family again, we headed down to the same beach that we photographed on last time and created some updated portraits with their little boy, Daniel.

The El-Shamaa family will be heading back to the states soon to live, but they will also be taking back some beautiful memories of Hervey Bay.
